Highland Park golf center opens

The Golf Practice: This 7,000-square-foot training facility in Highland Park helps golfers improve their game in an indoor setting similar to a golf course. “In order for players to really get better, the practice experience and the golf-course experience really have to be brought together,”co-founder Peter Donahue said in a press release. The Golf Practice includes landscaped artificial turf, simulating situations that golfers face on actual courses — challenging them to avoid a sand trap or making a difficult putt, for example. Radar technology provides quantifiable evidence of a golfer’s performance. Video equipment lets golfers view their stance, stroke and swing projected onto a screen in front of them. Mr. Dohanue, a Professional Golf Association veteran, started the Golf Practice with partner Chris Oehlerking.
