Junior Essentials I

Junior Essentials I

An Introduction to Golf

Junior Essentials I, a class for complete beginners, is the first level of group instruction offered at TGP. Its primary focus is to get young golfers excited about learning and participating in the sport. We nurture this excitement by using a variety of non-traditional learning strategies to assist our junior golfers on their path to discovery. JE I addresses and instills these fundamentals through thoughtful instruction with a concentration of deliberate gameplay that will entertain and challenge your junior golfer.

This program focuses on golf fundamentals, including:

  • Developing a Love for the Game. Nothing can be learned until a student shows interest in the subject. Golf is no different. Our TGP coaches use game play to excite students and associate fun with the game of golf.
  • Learning the Swing. Students will explore how the golf club rotates around the body to produce a strong and steady swing from start to finish. Equipped with the proper grip, alignment, and understanding of the swing, junior golfers are now ready to make solid contact with the ball.
  • Wedging. The essence of golf is getting the ball airborne. Students will learn proper techniques to use club loft to get the ball in the air without the need for scooping and body manipulation. A student who can consistently wedge the ball in the air is ready for Junior Essentials II
  • Creating Balance. The key to a sound golf swing is balance. Students will explore different techniques on how to maintain balance during a golf swing. Proper balance is a key differentiator between students in Junior Essentials I and Junior Essentials II.
  • Functional Movement. The best athletes make the best golfers. We use functional movement exercises to increase student’s athleticism and hand eye coordination. Students will become better all around athletes by taking this golf class.
