The finishing touches are being put on The Golf Practice’s new location in the southwest suburb of Lisle, where golfers will be able to practice the game they love year round in a spacious state-of-the-art facility.
“The Golf Practice Lisle is a next step in the growth of The Golf Practice and I am very excited to be a part of that. It has been fun to design the facility from scratch and take everything we’ve learned from Highland Park and apply it to this new space,” said Andy Hayes, the director of instruction in Lisle.
Ahead of the Lisle’s Jan. 20 opening, crews have moved tens of thousands of pounds of gravel into the facility’s 4,600-square-foot St. Andrews short game room to create a roomy chipping area and a massive, sloping green, where golfers can hone their putting skills. That area will also feature a deep pot bunker, much like one would find in Scotland.
In addition, workers have installed a custom WellPutt putting surface that will give players ample space to practice their skills with the flat stick in several areas around the facility.
Eight Trackman simulator bays have also been constructed. They will feature the latest technology that will allow golfers to view golf swing and ball flight data as well as play virtual golf courses around the globe. Junior golfers can also improve their skills and have fun while playing games such as Bullseye on the Trackman simulators. The facility will also feature a golf gym for speed training, private meditation rooms for mental performance training and a room for True Spec Club fittings.
In addition to creating a world-class facility, leadership at The Golf Practice, including founder Peter Donahue, owner and dean of instruction Chris Oehlerking, and owner and director of operations Alex Prior, have assembled a great team of coaches and have developed incredible programs, Hayes said.
“Anyone who has stepped foot in The Golf Practice can sense there is something special about the culture,” he said.
Hayes will be joined by coaches Glen Pieters and Zack Hayes and operations lead Tanner Mack in Lisle.
The Golf Practice’s popular Junior Essentials series will be offered when the facility opens. Junior Essentials I and II classes will be held Sundays, Mondays and Wednesdays for five weeks. Junior Essentials III will be held on Sundays for five weeks. More programming will be offered in the future.
Two types of memberships will be available at the Lisle location. A Founders Membership features 24/7 access to the facility, twice a month lessons with the director of instruction and the ability to host private events at the facility. The 2 + 2 Development Plan membership includes twice a month lessons and practices and an annual complimentary full bag club fitting.
A grand opening party with Hall of Fame coach Hank Haney will be held on Saturday, Feb. 8 from 6 to 9 p.m. Food and drinks will be provided along with golf contests and awards. No clubs will be needed. The address is 4995 Varsity Drive. For more information, call (630) 703-0877.
