Storms rained down on north shore golf courses the days leading up to the NSJT’s second tournament of the fall season, rendering most courses unplayable. The host course, Winnetka Golf Club, was one of them. Winnetka’s Championship 18-hole course was closed down for several days due to flooding, but their challenging 9-hole Par 3 course remained open and playable, offering the league a unique challenge.
A playable course does not mean an easy course, as the players soon found out. Slow, wet greens forced the grounds crew to cut difficult pin locations, made that much more tricky when facing greenside shots from thick, uncut, damp rough. A true challenge for the competitors.
To add to the shake up for the day, all players, from high school to jr. varsity, played from the same set of tees.
Charlie Creamean took home Low Medalist Honors, posting 28, followed by Eli Sherman’s 31.
Danny Klein’s 34 was good enough for 3rd place, and a host of players tied for forth at 36.
The next stop on the tour for The Golf Practice will be a home match at Highland Park CC against Dynamic Golf from Deerfield. Tee times will begin at 2:00 on Saturday, September 26th.
